DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY

Sovereignty is not a checkbox. It is an architecture decision.

Every organization can sign a sovereignty strategy. Fewer can show what it means for each database, cluster and network they run. StackToIT turns that ambition into an engineering plan for your move to STACKIT.

  1. 01 · Digital Sovereignty

Decide where you run, who operates it and how you leave

Sovereignty comes down to control over those three questions. A policy document states the goal. Only your architecture shows how close you are to it.

How StackToIT helps: A resource-by-resource record of what moves, what changes and what still needs a decision.

  2. 02 · European Cloud

Location is only half of the question

A provider’s home jurisdiction can matter as much as where its data centre stands: rules such as the US CLOUD Act reach across borders. STACKIT, the cloud of Schwarz Group, runs in its own data centres in Germany and Austria.

How StackToIT helps: A view of which of your services have a STACKIT target today, and which must be redesigned or self-managed to get there.

  3. 03 · Vendor Lock-in

Lock-in lives in the services, not in the virtual machines

Compute is rarely what holds you. Proprietary databases, serverless runtimes, identity and platform policy are. Their cost stays invisible until someone tries to leave.

How StackToIT helps: Each unit classified from direct to redesign. Lock-in gets a name, a reason and a place in the plan.

  4. 04 · Cloud Independence

The legal exit is opening. The technical one is yours to build

EU Data Act switching rules have applied since 12 September 2025, and from 12 January 2027 providers may no longer charge switching charges. That lowers the price of leaving. It does not rewrite your infrastructure.

How StackToIT helps: STACKIT Terraform drafts, an ordered execution plan and reviewable decisions: an exit plan held in files on your own computer.

Start from where you run today

The move to a European cloud looks different from each source.

StackToIT supports the architecture work. It does not certify compliance or replace legal review.
